The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced a boycott for the upcoming MCD mayoral and deputy mayoral elections on April 25. Atishi, a key AAP leader, revealed this decision at a press conference on Monday.
Atishi accused the BJP of extensive rigging in the MCD polls even though they suffered a significant defeat. She also claimed that the BJP carried on with malpractices by poaching councilors despite losing.
Atishi emphasized her party’s commitment to avoid sabotage and horse-trading, explaining their decision to refrain from the mayoral contest. She urged the BJP to establish a triple engine government in Delhi and fulfill promises without excuses.
AAP’s Bharadwaj accused BJP of malpractice in delimitation. He claimed BJP had halted MCD election previously. Wards were shifted and corruption was prevalent, he alleged. Despite irregularities, BJP lost, leading to AAP’s government formation.
