Guwahati, September 11, 2026: Assamese cinema is gearing up for another major theatrical outing with Oiii Police, starring Ravi Sarma and Amrita Gogoi and directed by Suvrat (Suv) Kakoti. Produced by Rootstock Entertainment, the film is now scheduled to arrive in cinemas on January 22, 2027, after its earlier release plans were put on hold in view of the devastating floods that affected Assam.
The film had its official trailer launch in July, where the cast, crew, media representatives and members of the Assamese film fraternity responded positively to the preview. Despite the encouraging reception, the makers decided against immediately releasing the trailer online, considering the hardships faced by people across the state.
Oiii Police promises a mix of action, comedy, emotion and family entertainment, while attempting to offer something beyond the familiar police-film formula. The project also marks the reunion of Ravi Sarma and Suvrat Kakoti following their successful collaboration on Shri Raghupati.
Kakoti said the team had originally planned an August release but did not feel comfortable promoting a film while flood-affected communities were going through a difficult period. The team subsequently visited several affected villages and participated in relief efforts before finalising a new release schedule.
The director described Oiii Police as a complete big-screen entertainer, with considerable attention given to its screenplay, performances, music and visual presentation. He also indicated that the trailer would reveal only a portion of what the film has in store.
The return of the Ravi Sarma–Suvrat Kakoti–Pranay Dutta combination has generated anticipation among Assamese moviegoers. With its January 22, 2027 release, Oiii Police is positioned as a pre-Republic Day theatrical attraction, while its official trailer is expected to be released on social media before the end of 2026.
