A Creative Learning Kit has been developed to introduce children to traditional Indian textile crafts through engaging, hands-on activities. The initiative aims to:
-
Promote awareness about traditional crafts
-
Develop creativity and artistic expression
-
Encourage fine motor skill development
-
Connect children with India’s rich cultural heritage
The toolkit enhances hand–eye coordination, builds patience and focus, and fosters cultural understanding. It supports experiential learning in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) and offers meaningful, screen-free creative engagement for children.
The toolkit has been developed under an R&D study sanctioned to the Handicrafts Service Centre, Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The initiative was appreciated by Dr. Sanjay Shrivastava, Director, NIFT Daman, who acknowledged its innovative approach toward integrating traditional crafts into creative education.
This initiative is expected to attract the younger generation by providing them with opportunities to enhance their creativity while simultaneously learning about Indian heritage and culture. The programme is poised to play a significant role in nurturing artistic sensibilities and cultural awareness among students, thereby contributing positively to their holistic development in the years to come.
