Google has introduced new AI tools in India aimed at enhancing farming efficiency and resilience. The main feature is the AMED API, which uses satellite imagery and machine learning to monitor crop activities and provide farmers with real-time information to improve yields. Additionally, Google is collaborating with IIT-Kharagpur to develop AI that better understands local languages and cultural contexts.
The AMED API provides information on current crops, field dimensions, planting timelines, and up to three years of historical data, all valuable for improving farm management decisions. According to Alok Talekar of Google DeepMind, these real-time tools aim to assist farmers in addressing climate issues and optimizing crop management.
