Tata Steel aims for a 20% diverse workforce by 2028 as part of its MOSAIC initiative promoting workplace diversity and inclusion, which began in 2015 to integrate inclusion into the company culture.
Tata Steel is revolutionizing male-dominated sectors with progressive HR policies, including LGBTQ+ benefits, gender-neutral parental leaves, and gender transition support. The company also offers comprehensive relocation and travel benefits. MOSAIC focuses on recruitment, sensitization, retention, infrastructure, and celebration, addressing the distinct needs of diverse groups like women, PwDs, LGBTQ+ individuals, and affirmative action communities.
Atrayee Sanyal, Tata Steel’s Chief People Officer, stressed the company’s dedication to people-focused HR policies, aiming for an equitable, inclusive workplace valuing individuals. She emphasized their commitment to diversity and fostering an environment where everyone can thrive and contribute effectively.
Since its start, MOSAIC at Tata Steel has initiated various impactful inclusion projects. These encompass the Women of Mettle scholarship, the inclusion of transgender Heavy Earth Moving Machineries operators, and Queerious – a case study competition for LGBTQIA+ students. In 2023, the company introduced Ananta Quest for students with disabilities and welcomed female firefighter trainees.
