Renowned for budget-friendly cars, Renault’s latest offering, the 5 Turbo 3E, comes with a price tag of £135,000 (approx. ₹1.5 crore), making it their most expensive model. This places the new car in competition with luxury vehicles like the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS.
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E differs greatly from the standard Renault 5, offering rear-wheel-drive in a two-door, two-seat design compared to the front-wheel-drive, four-door, five-seat layout of the base model. Priced to signal its position as a high-end sports car, this EV stands out for luxury and performance enthusiasts.
Renault is pricing the “mini supercar” at £135,000 as an introductory rate, with additional costs for options and accessories. Limited to 1,980 units, it will be sold in select regions: Europe, Middle East, Japan, and Australia. To purchase, buyers must apply online through a dedicated site and select their preferred dealer.
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E impresses with its high performance: boasting 536hp and 4,800Nm of torque, it can reach 100km/h in about three seconds with a top speed of 270km/h. Powered by in-wheel motors and a large battery pack, the car weighs around 1,450kg, maintaining a balance of power and weight.
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E has high-speed charging, reaching 15-80% in 15 minutes. Its lightweight design is attributed to carbon fiber and the lack of rear doors and seats.
