26 killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

As per NDTV, up to 26 people died in a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The assailants attacked Baisaran Valley’s high meadows, accessible by foot or horse. The camouflaged attackers seemed to have planned the assault. Military helicopters are evacuating the injured.

Several victims, including women and the elderly, were shown shaken by the brutal attack in videos from the site. A survivor reported, “My husband was shot in the head, with seven others also injured.” The attack occurred during Pahalgam’s peak tourist season, coinciding with the ongoing registration for the upcoming July 3 Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage.

Shortly after the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi instructed Home Minister Amit Shah to take necessary precautions and visit the site. Shah then organized a meeting at his Delhi residence, attended by Intelligence Bureau Chief Tapan Deka and Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan. The gathering via video conferencing included CRPF Chief Gyanendra Pratap Singh, J&K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and other Army officials.

Sinha tweeted about the Pahalgam attack, vowing severe consequences for the perpetrators. A realtor named Manjunath Rao from Shivamogga, Karnataka, was among the victims, shot in front of his family. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah immediately called a meeting with key officials to gather information, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.
