X, Elon Musk’s social media platform, is experiencing a widespread global outage. Users worldwide are struggling to access it on web and mobile. The disruptions, affecting regions like the US, India, the UK, Australia, and Canada, hit a peak at 3:20pm IST today.
According to Downdetector, over 21,000 service disruption reports were logged in the US by 3:37pm IST, with varied issues by region and platform. In India, 51% experienced website access problems, while others encountered login or X mobile app issues.
During the disruption, Downdetector India registered around 2,600 complaints. Most were about website access issues (80%), with 11% facing login problems, and 9% encountering X mobile app errors. Despite being less severe compared to other countries, Indian users still experienced significant trouble during the global outage.
The exact cause of the disruption is unclear as X has not given an official statement. Users are affected in varying ways: 58% face app problems, 31% struggle with website access, and 11% encounter login issues. Users are turning to other platforms to express their frustrations through venting or memes.
