Google Calendar gains Gemini upgrade for smarter scheduling.

Google is introducing the Gemini side panel to its Calendar app, enhancing schedule management tasks. This AI-driven feature simplifies checking schedules, creating events, and retrieving event details quickly. Previously in Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Chat, Google Calendar now joins the lineup.

To access the Gemini side panel, click the “Ask Gemini” icon in the top-right corner of your Google Calendar. This will display suggested prompts and allow you to enter your own. Suggestions are available, such as “Find the next meeting,” while you can also input custom queries like “When is my next meeting with Emily?” or “How many meetings do I have on Monday?”

The Gemini side panel in Calendar eliminates manual calendar entries. You can command Gemini to add events like “Lunch with parents at 11:00am on Tuesday” or “Daily workout at 6:00am.” Note that manual invitations are still required for other users. Presently, the Gemini side panel is exclusively accessible via Google Workspace Labs.
