Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde responded to Uddhav Thackeray’s criticism regarding his visit to Prayagraj’s Maha Kumbh where he took a dip. Shinde accused Uddhav of betraying Balasaheb Thackeray’s beliefs, stating that they compromised with his ideologies and demoralized the party members. “Did my holy dip at the confluence absolve the sins they committed?” Shinde questioned.
Shinde dismissed Thackeray’s statewide tour, expressing confidence in ongoing voter support shown in the assembly elections. Despite being labeled as traitors before, voters backed them, evident in the assembly polls. He believes voters will decisively eliminate the UBT faction in the upcoming municipal elections.
Shinde criticized Thackeray’s view on Prayagraj’s cultural relevance, stating that those who don’t understand its significance prefer going to London to wash away their sins. This was in response to media questions regarding Thackeray’s comments that no number of holy baths could erase the “stamp of traitorship.”
Former actress Nupur Alankar, who left the entertainment industry in February 2022 for a spiritual journey, was recently seen at the Maha Kumbh. Sharing about her transition to a life of devotion, she mentioned her focus on visiting pilgrimages and aiding the less fortunate.
