Tesla recalls 380,000 EVs due to steering issue. Check affected models for updates.

Tesla is recalling around 380,000 US vehicles due to a power steering issue that could make steering tougher at low speeds, raising accident risks. The affected models are specific 2023 Model 3 sedans and Model Y crossovers with older software.

The power steering glitch in Tesla vehicles stems from overvoltage, risking excessive strain on motor drive parts in certain Model 3 and Model Y cars. Primarily seen in older software versions, this issue suggests a susceptibility in the operating systems of these models.

Following a power steering assist failure, Tesla released an over-the-air software update to address an overvoltage breakdown issue reported to the NHTSA. The update aims to resolve the issue on affected models, with over 200,000 vehicles having been recalled previously due to a hardware-related problem.
