The NCP, under Ajit Pawar’s leadership, has enlarged its core group from three to seven members. This new team comprises Praful Patel, Sunil Tatkare, Hasan Mushrif, and Dilip Walse Patil. The announcement was made by Pawar on Friday.
Chhagan Bhujbal’s inclusion in the core group is viewed as a conciliatory move following his public discontent over exclusion from the state cabinet. Since December, he has voiced being marginalized by party leaders. Despite being offered a Rajya Sabha seat, Bhujbal advocated for responsibilities within Maharashtra, according to an NCP leader.
Dhananjay Munde’s appointment to the core NCP group, despite being embroiled in a murder case controversy, has sparked concern. Accused of protecting Walmik Karad linked to Santosh Deshmukh’s murder, Munde has faced calls for dismissal, yet Pawar, having his back, maintains his place in the influential group.
Tatkare stated that the core group was formed for organizational growth and policy implementation. They will also concentrate on the upcoming local elections, aims to enhance the NCP’s decision-making by expanding to seven members from three for strategic reasons at state and national levels.
