President Donald Trump immediately revoked former President Joe Biden’s security clearances and daily intelligence briefings, citing a lack of trust in Biden’s ability to safeguard national security. Trump questioned the value and impact of continuing to provide Biden with classified information on Truth Social.
In 2021, Biden barred Trump from receiving intelligence briefings due to concerns about his behavior. Trump, questioning the need for these briefings, noted that he had set a precedent by instructing the Intelligence Community not to provide access to National Security details for the 45th President.
Trump cited a federal probe into Biden’s handling of classified documents as reason to revoke his security clearance. Special Counsel Hur’s report criticized Biden’s memory and handling of sensitive info, but stopped short of charging him. The report showed Biden’s ‘poor memory’ and lack of trustworthiness with sensitive information. Trump subsequently fired Biden, citing concerns over national security and promising to make America great again.
Trump’s “vengeance tour” in Washington involves revoking security clearances from officials like former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Dr. Anthony Fauci, who criticized him. He has also withdrawn security measures from several other critical officials, some facing threats from Iran after the 2020 assassination of General Qasem Soleimani.
