2 arrested in Punjab and 1 in Haryana for suspected spying.

Three individuals, two from Punjab and one from Haryana, were apprehended on Monday for suspected espionage for Pakistan. Mohammad Tareef of Kangarka village in Haryana was detained by the Mewat unit of the Haryana police after admitting to passing crucial data to the Pakistan High Commission. The Punjab authorities dealt with the capture of the two Punjab residents independently.

Sukhpreet and Karanbir from Punjab were arrested alongside two others on May 15 for allegedly sharing classified information about ‘Operation Sindoor’ with ISI following credible inputs. The operation, involving sensitive details such as troop movements and strategic locations, was disclosed by Punjab DGP.

In Tauru Sadar, Tarif, a quack, confessed to selling Indian Air Force secrets to individuals in Pakistan for payment, implicating Pakistan High Commission staffers Asim Baloch and Zafar. Additionally, Ehsan-ur-Rahim, known as Danish, was connected to an espionage case involving YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra from Hisar.

Tarif met Baloch at the Pakistan High Commission in 2018 while getting his visa. Baloch requested two SIM cards for the visa, and after Tarif arranged them, he received his visa. Tarif then referred people to Baloch and received commissions from him.

Zafar allegedly offered Tarif money for Sirsa IAF station details on his third visit to Pakistan in 2024. Before his arrest, Tarif attempted to erase incriminating chat logs from his phone. His arrest marks the 13th for alleged espionage since India’s Operation Sindoor and the second from Nuh.
